Agri Weave Weed Mat

Overview

Spilo’s Agri Weave® is the market leader in weed growth prevention. The built-in strength and proprietary features of the fabric give it outstanding durability and a high resistance to extreme weather conditions and UV.

Until recently, the only two ways, other than manual labour, to control weed growth has been with plastic sheeting or the use of chemicals. Chemicals are harmful to the environment and in some cases are harmful to the crops themselves. A disadvantage of plastic sheeting is that it breaks up easily in windy or rainy conditions. Another disadvantage is the constant maintenance and replacement required in high traffic areas. Sheet plastic is also impermeable, causing water build-up (ponding) on top of the plastic, and root rot underneath. Agri Weave® has been developed to solve these challenges, read on to see how it can be put to work on your farm.

Agri Weave® has been developed using the latest scientific methods and has been proven over more than a decade of use on farms across the globe.

Benefits Of Agri Weave®

01
Weed Prevention & Higher Yields

Effectively suppresses weed growth competition, improving yields by up to 300%.

Agri Weave® Halo

green-line

Our Agri Weave® Halo is made from our long-lasting UV-stabilised HDPE woven fabric. The Agri Weave® Halo offers excellent airflow that reduces the risk of anaerobic diseases and saves up to 70% water usage through the reduction of evaporation. The Agri Weave® Halo is designed to activate growth in the early growing season, reduce plant shutdown in extreme temperatures and protect surface roots, especially after pruning. The Agri Weave® Halo can be installed by putting the Halo on the ground around a tree, or inside of the container, on top of the soil/substrate, and securing it in place with dripper lines.

Agri Weave® Buried Installation

Agri Weave® can be installed on a commercial scale using a mulch-laying implement attached to the back of a tractor. This method works best in less rocky, sandier soils. For rows with established crops, Agri Weave® can be applied by joining two sections in the middle. Contact our sales team for more details on installation techniques.

Agri Weave® Pinned Installation

Agri Weave® can be fastened using ground cover pins, staples, or anchors, with pins being the preferred option for medium-hard, clay-based soils. Due to the natural expansion and contraction of the product, it is recommended to leave a 5–6% margin for movement. For optimal placement, allow the fabric to settle before fully securing it, reducing the risk of shifting after installation.
